Scoop Mailbox: The Fight That Won’t Die

This Alex Ariza interview made a lot of sense! Your questions are very interesting and Ariza answered it very professional! It should be make a lot of doubters a believer in the effort of Team Pacquaio! How can people who are true and genuine to their craft are the one being suspected, while the people who are fraud and cheaters are getting away for a long time now? Im just disappointed just like Ariza and a lot of boxing fans as well. RA Brooklyn

Scoop Reply: This was the first time I spoke with Alex Ariza who is new to the boxing game. Very impressed how well he repped Manny and himself under the spotlight of international attention. Every sentence he articulated was going to be dissected closely by the other side but he spoke the truth from his heart. I have not a shred of doubt he and Manny are 100% clean.

Tim Smith always voted for Mayweather as the Yahoo’s pound for pound no. 1 in the past! Now, he is making his own stories about a source in the fight negotiation! I think his source is coming from Golden Boy that makes all this false stories and fabrication. What happen to American Journalism nowadays Scoop? But I still believed in America because there are still writers out there like you who seek for the TRUTH, and Truth shall prevail!

Scoop Reply: Thanks dear reader. Arum later called Smith and the Daily News full of ****, that they fabricated the story that a rep of Pac asked what the punishment would be if Pac tested positive, and if he did, to cover it up to keep the integrity of the sport. I think Smith made it up also, because he wouldn’t name the source. What’s to hide? Don’t hold your breath to see if the NY Daily News sues Arum for accusing them of making up a story. PS: While it has been overheard in press rooms and watering holes that some writers are on the take from some promoters, this can’t be confirmed.

Foreigners will never understand the Filipino mind. We come from a
country considered by all as third world. We don’t have much to brag
about our current situation but we still have our pride. For the
other races, one will submit to a test to prove to other people that
they are wrong. For most Filipinos, it is, “Why should I do the test
when I know I haven’t done anything wrong? to hell with what they
will say. Why should I bow down to these demands when I am the one
who should be making the demand?” Pride. We express it in different
ways. Good or bad, that is what we are.
For the record, I am praying that Manny will not submit to any extra
test other than what is mandated by law. to hell will the money, he
is already very rich. I am not a racist, but this time I would like
to show the other races out there that we are not pushovers. We are
not a rich country and even in our standard, more than half of our
people are below the middle class level(this is a very optimistic
stat). Maybe in other country money is everthing but for us
Filipinos, there are other important things. things like principle,
pride and doing what you believe is right, damn the torpedoes. Again
this maybe good or bad, but that is what we are. – Roger Cadag
Scoop Reply: Thanks for a well written thought. Only thing to say is that I know many Filippino people through boxing and tennis and I have never seen any conduct himself remotely close to the lack of class of Floyd. Filippino people are about as kind and nice as any in the world.

We Filipinos dont understand the actions of Mayweather jr et al., in a recent radio interview by RA the Rugged man, when he was quoted as saying that “The Philippines has the best enhancement drugs”. If indeed that the Philippines has the best PEDs then why until now we dont have a single gold medal in the Olympics. We rank no. 5 in the recent South East Asian Games held last December. To read his mind, he does not want to fight Pacman. He knows that Pacman can take his punches and he cannot…HAPPY NEW YEAR. Jon Branzuela

Scoop Reply: The slip of a lip can sink a ship. That one false sentence from Floyd could eventually cost him a fortune and you can be sure Daniel Petrocelli will use it as a key piece of evidence. Boxing needs many more RA The Rugged Mans in the media.

Good day to you Scoop!

Your most recent item (Pacquiao May Have Destroyed Floyd’s Career) is a far more careful reading of Floyd’s future than the ones that are appearing now.

What is only missing from your excellent piece is the inevitable conclusion about GBP’s fate and actions. Remarkably, this firm has proven incredibly stupid in the last two months. Angering Pacquiao to white-hot fury on the drug-testing matter will neither lead to the scratching of de la Soya’s most embarrassing forced-retirement loss of his life in the mind of experts, or provide emotional forward cover for Floyd’s prospective ring loss against the Pacman, Such moronic effort yields nothing against a man who is prouder of his rise from poverty than his money today. The Pacman will not be afraid to go back to poverty again to win his case, you can trust me on this.

What is truly incredible is the fact that GBP can actually force the match to start up, and reduce their potential defamation damage, by HUMILIATING FLOYD INSTEAD, WHO IS ALREADY ONE OF THE MOST HATED BOXERS ON THE PLANET ANYWAY, AND WILL UNLEASH A GODZILLA OF GANGSTA EXPLETIVES TO EVERYONE’S AMUSEMENT. IF THERE’S ONE THING WORSE THAN BEING UNLOVED, IT IS BEING IGNORED — IGNORED AS A HAS-BEEN BY PROMOTERS, HBO AND GOD FORBID, THE HATTONS. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT FLOYDIE WILL NEVER ALLOW TO HAPPEN EVEN IF HE IS REQUIRED TO COMMIT SEPPUKU IN THE RING.
FLOYD AT THIS STAGE OF HIS CAREER, AND THE ENORMITY OF HIS MISTAKES, IS WANTED MORE DEAD THAN ALIVE BY MORE PEOPLE THAN ANY ONE ON THIS PLANET. THIS IS THE BEST TIME FOR THE MAYWEATHERS TO CASH IN ON THEIR NOTORIETY…. -DANTE F.

Scoop Reply: Very interesting and believable insights into the possible mindset of Manny.

Golden Boy’s future does not look very bright considering the deplorable way Schaefer, Oscar along with Haymon and Ellerbe have conducted themselves the last month. We’ll see how long they choose to perpetuate the fraud who pulled off the greatest duck in boxing history. We’ll see how long they continue to undermine their own credibility at the expense of a chicken heart. We’ll see how much longer the boxing public will support and pay for this coward act and his spar sessions.

Wow what is up with the writing of Scoop whats-his-name? You could feel his hate of Mayweather coming through the screen. While i’m not of big fan of Floyd myself, it ridiculous to make it seem like a beatdown is a forgone conclusion. He needs to be a little more fair or you might as well advertise your site on pac-mans offical site. Is he the only one covering this fight? new to this site so I was just wondering -Joe

Scoop Reply: Dear Joe; Some fights are easy to pick. Pac vs. Floyd is easy. When one wants it and the other clearly does not, the outcome is never in doubt. But only on rare occasions does it become obvious that one wants the fight and the other wants to duck, for examples: Tarver-Jones II, Lewis-Tyson, Liddell-Ortiz, Hopkins-DeLa Hoya. I respect Floyd as a boxer, but have no respect for the disgracefully dishonest way he behaves and discredits many proven great fighters like Leonard, Roy Jones, Cotto, Margarito, Pacquiao, Mosley, and I’m sure there are more. Stay tuned for interviews with Eddie Chambers, Chris Arreola and Ali Funeka this week.

So what do you think about the May-Pac fight? Think it’s really off or it’s all smoke and mirrors? – Jonny H.
Scoop Reply: It’s off because Floyd knows he can’t win, not because of the bluffed random blood tests. What’s the difference if Pac takes it after the fight or two days earlier anyway? I think the fight could be forced by HBO though. HBO could call Floyd and Haymon onto the carpet and let them know in no uncertain terms that Floyd either fight Pac or he can forget about ever being showcased on HBO again. That might do the trick.
