Amazing Cuban Rigondeaux To Turn Pro

Marvelous Rigondeaux might be better than Casamayor and Gamboa!

Cuban pugilistic legend Guillermo Rigondeaux is so good, it’s been said by some insiders he might even be the world’s pound-for-pound all around best boxer today. We will soon know how talented Rigondeaux is.

The 2000 and 2004 Olympic gold medalist has been reported to be in Miami and about to join his former Olympic teammates Erislandy Lara, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Odllanier Solis with the Germany-based Arena Box-Promotions headed by Ahmet Oner. 28-year-old Rigondeaux, a left hander with amazing handspeed and whirlwind skills (see some of action at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNAOFykBT8U), previously left the Cuban boxing team at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2007. He had intended to fly to Germany and join Arena Box but the plan failed and he was returned to Cuba but eliminated from the boxing team. Rigondeaux did not compete for his third consecutive gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Rigondeaux is so talented, it might be a wise maneuver for for HBO or Showtime to sign him to a multi-fight contract right now. The Cuban, who boxed at 120 pounds as an amateur and will presumably box at 122 (super bantamweight) as a pro, has the extraordinary abilities which could attain a world title victory in his first professional fight.

If you haven’t heard the name Guillermo Rigondeaux before, you will be seeing and hearing about him a lot in the near future.
