Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez Results: Pacquiao Wins A Razor Thin Decision

Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez meet up for the third time in Las Vegas to finally settle who was the clear victor in their first two encounters. They fought to a draw in their first fight, fought to a split decision in their second fight, and who knows how the fight will end up this time.

Juan Manuel Marquez comes out to a mariachi band playing in the background. The crowd loudly chants Marquez as he enters the ring. Manny Pacquiao is in his dressing room looking focused, and the camera shows him praying in the corner. Pacquiao comes out to Eye of the Tiger sung by the lead singer of Survivor. As Pacquiao enters the ring, he prays again in the corner of the ring. Tony Weeks will be the referee for tonight, and the crowd begins chanting Pacquiao’s name as the referee gives his instructions.

Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2) vs. Juan Manuel Marquez (53-5-1) ; Welterweight Title

Round 1:

Pacquiao and Marquez come out to the center of the ring, and both fighters look to be trying to feel each other out. Pacquiao is throwing out his jab to try and find his range. Marquez bounces a jab off of Pacquiao’s defense. The crowd begins to chant ole, ole, ole. Pacquiao ducks under a Marquez hook, and connects with a straight left hand. Marquez throws a left hook to the body of Pacquiao. Pacquiao connects up top but Marquez answers with some body shots. Pacquiao misses over the top with a left hand. Pacquiao connects with a hard left hand, and answers with another straight left hand. Marquez lands some body shots near the end of the round. 10-9 round for Pacquiao.

Both fighters come out to the center of the ring again, as last round seemed to be a feeling out round. Pacquiao taking turns leading with his jab and left hand. Crowd begins chanting ole, ole, ole again. Pacquiao throws out a double jab and follows with a straight left hand. Pacquiao is applying the pressure on Marquez, and Marquez lands a body shot in on Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand to the body of Marquez. Pacquiao lands a stiff jab on Marquez. Marquez lands a stiff body shot on Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a body shot and Marquez lands a straight right hand. Pacquiao lands a nice body shot on Marquez. Very close round, 10-9 for Marquez.

Round 3:

Fighters touch gloves at the start of round 3. Pacquiao throws out a double jab and Marquez steps out of the way. Pacquiao lands an overhand lefr hand, and follows it with a stragith left hand. Pacquiao lands a right hook, and then a straight left hand. Marquez throws an uppercut and misses. Marquez lands with a jab. Pacquiao with a straight left hand to the body. Marquez with a left hook to the body of Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a soft jab. Marquez with a jab to the body of Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a lead left hand. Pacquiao lands a hard right hook on Marquez. 10-9 round for Pacquiao.

Round 4:

Both fighters still seem cautious and hesitant to really exchange. Marquez with a left hook upstairs that is partially blocked. Pacquiao lands a hard straight left hand. Marquez misses with a reaching left hook. Marquez connects with a right jab. Marquez lands a right hook and Pacquiao lands a left hand. Pacquiao with another straight left hand. Marquez lands a hard low body shot. Pacquiao connects with a lead left hand, and hits Marquez with a short right uppercut. Pacquiao connects with another lead left hand. Marquez connects with a left hand of his own. Another close round, 10-9 round for Pacquiao.
Round 5:

Very close and tense fight so far. Pacquiao lands a soft jab to the body of Marquez. Marquez lands a hard left hook to the body of Pacquiao. Marquez lands a nice left uppercut through Pacquiao’s defenses. Marquez lands an over the top right hand. Marquez lands another straight right hand. Another jab connects for Marquez. Pacquiao hits Marquez with a check right hook, and another check right hook. Pacquiao connects with a straight left hand, and Marquez answers with a two punch combination of his own. Marquez lands a three punch combination. 10-9 round for Marquez.

Round 6:

Crowd is loudly chanting for Marquez now. Marquez lands a solid jab on Pacquiao. Marquez lands a hard body shot to the body of Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand on Pacquiao. Marquez lands two body shots on Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a left hook after a lead right hand from Marquez. Pacquiao applies the pressure and connects with a two punch combination. Marquez barely misses with an uppercut. Marquez lands two hard right hands in a row. Pacquiao lands a digging body punch. Marquez digs two body shots at the end of the round. 10-9 round for Pacquiao, in another very close round.

Round 7:

Every round has been thrillingly close so far. Marquez lands a cross to the body of Pacquiao. Marquez lands a hard right hook on Pacquiao. The crowd is again chanting loudly for Marquez. Marquez lands an uppercut to the body of Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand and a double jab. Pacquiao lands a short left hook. Macquiez with a left hand body shot and a three punch combination. Marquez lands a straight right hand. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand. Very close round again. 10-9 for Marquez.

Round 8:

Pacquiao flicks out a jab and bounces it off of Marquez’s defense. Pacquiao is bleeding from his mouth. Marquez lands a hook to the body of Pacquiao. Marquez throws a right hook at the defense of Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand at the body of Marquez. Marquez lands a right uppercut, and Pacquiao answers with a right hook. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand. Marquez lands a very hard jab on Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a hard straight left hand by the end of the round. 10-9 round for Pacquiao.

Round 9:

Every round has been very close so far. Marquez bounces a jab off of Pacquiao’s defense. Marquez lands a right hook on the back of Pacquiao’s head. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand. Marquez lands a combination on Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a hard uppercut with his left hand. Pacquiao with a lead right hook on Marquez. Pacquiao lands another lead left hand. Pacquiao lands a lead left hand and they exchange furiously. Crowd gets it’s feet as they exchange furiously. Marquez lands a very nice uppercut. These rounds are almost impossible to score. 10-9 round for Pacquiao.

Round 10:

Both fighters were breathing heavily in their corner in between rounds. The crowd is chanting for Marquez again. Marquez with a straight right hand at Pacquiao’s defense. Marquez ducks under a straight left hand from Pacquiao. Pacquiao lands a check right hook. Marquez slips and touches the ring and it’s ruled a slip. Pacquiao lands an uppercut and Marquez lands a right hand. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand. Pacquiao lands a straight left hand and Marquez answers with a jab. Pacquiao throws a fully of punches at the end of the round and Marquez answers with a straight right hand. 10-9 round for Pacquiao.
Round 11:

Pacquiao has a bad cut on his right eyebrow. Replays show a head butt caused the cut. Marquez throws a lead left uppercut. Marquez ducks under a straight left hand from Pacquiao again. Pacquiao ducks away from Marquez’s shots and lands a straight left hand. Pacquiao lands another solid straight left hand. Marquez lands a straight right hand. Pacquiao lands a hard right hand, and Marquez lands a left hand. Pacquiao lands another straight left hand. Pacquiao lands a right jab. Pacquiao steps forward with a quick jab. Marquez lands a solid right hand near the end of the round. 10-9 round for Marquez.
Round 12:

Pacqiao throws a lead right hook on Marquez. The crowd is loudly chanting for Marquez again. Marquez is playing defensive this round. Marquez throws a combination, and Pacquiao answers with his own combination. Pacquiao lands another straight left hand. Marquez throws but Pacquiao is able to dodge out of Marquez’s punches. The mouthpiece falls out of Pacquiao’s mouth and the referee stops the fight so Pacquiao can put it back in. Marquez lands a right hook. Marquez was way too defensive in the last round for a championship fight. 10-9 round Pacquiao.

The official scores are 114-114, 115-113, and 116-112 for Manny Pacquiao.

It was an incredibly close fight, and while Pacquiao may have won the fight, he did not get the definitive victory he was looking for.
