WBC Heavyweight champ Vitali Klitschko is reportedly seeking to defend against American Christobal Arreola for his second WBC title defense. But the WBC has already previously ordered Klitschko to fight former champ Oleg Maskaev next.
The latest on this situation according to Maskaev manager Fred Kersh: “We are waiting for the CAS, Court of Arbitration for Sport, to set a date for arbitration. As you may or may not know, the WBC has ordered Maskaev to fight the winner of Klitschko-Gomez as the mandatory. We all know that Klitschko won (against then-WBC mandatory challenger Juan Carlos Gomez in March) and he is saying that he doesn’t want to fight Oleg. He doesn’t make that decision. The title and the belt are the property of the WBC and they have so ordered the winner to fight Oleg.”
