Two weeks ago Floyd Mayweather was scheduled to appear on Lopez Tonight television show on WTBS Network but abruptly canceled when it became known he was going to be asked about boxing Manny Pacquiao. Oscar De La Hoya ended up replacing Mayweather as the guest on the show which is hosted by George Lopez.
Now according to David Mayo of the Grand Rapids newspaper, Mayweather is scheduled on Tuesday to be a guest on Joe Buck Live on HBO. According to David Mayo, Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather’s adviser, said Floyd “is not going to be talking about any fights,” which is a direct reference to the agreed upon but still not finalized Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight supposedly set for March 13.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” Ellerbe is quoted by Mayo as saying. “Let them do the talking. When the time comes for Mr. Mayweather to talk, he’ll be talking loud and clear.”
You have to find it interesting that the man who says he loves to trash talk. who prides himself on hyping up fights by playing the bad guy role, has suddenly decided to become a man of so few words now that he is being all but forced by HBO, the media, and fans to fight Manny Pacquiao next.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if Joe Buck were to improvise the script and ask Floyd Mayweather some unexpected questions about boxing Manny Pacquiao? There’s no telling what Mayweather might do or say. By doing so, Joe Buck might be able to create a live TV moment which could gain his show more publicity than any commercial or paid advertisement could ever purchase.
