The following is the Boxing Insider notebook for the week of June 17th to June 24th covering the comings and goings in the sport of boxing that you might have missed.

Tickets on Sale for Bradley vs. Marquez

Timothy Bradley Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez will clash on Saturday, October 12th at the Thomas & Mack Center live on HBO Pay per view. Marquez is fighting to become Mexico’s first five division world champion. Tickets are priced at $800, $600, $400, $300, $200, $100, and $50. They can be purchased at UNLVtickets.com.

Ojeda Defeats Torres

Undefeated Rey “El Maestro” Ojeda (11-0) captured the vacant lightweight WBA Fedecaribe title by defeating via TKO at 0:01 of the fourth round Fernando Torres (18-4-1). The referee stopped the bout due to a cut on Torres right eye by a punch even though replay showed it was from a headbutt.

Fernando Montiel Knocks Out Padua

Fernando Montiel (50-4-2) easily defeated Filipno Jaderes Padua (8-3-1) on Saturday Night in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Montiel is riding a four fight win streak and stopped Padua in the third round at 1:12 with a flurry of punches followed by a lights out right hand. This was Padua’s second knock out loss in a row.

Cuban Olympic Heavyweight Robert Alfonso In Action on Friday Night

Former Cuban Olympian Robert Alfonso (1-0) makes his Acquinity Sports debut on Friday against Robert Dunton (9-7-1) in a four round bout at the Civic Center in Kissimmee, Florida. Alfonso is settled in Florida and has been trained by his head coach Germain Caicedo and his associate “Irish” Micky Ward. Friday night’s show will be broadcast on Telemundo and will also feature stable mates Albert “Prince” bell and Juan “Little Tyson” Guzman.

Gamalier Rodriguez vs. Jorge Pazos for NABO Featherweight Title

Gamalier Rodriguez defends his NABO Title against Jorge Pazos on August 10th at the Sands in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Ronald Cruz will be featured in the co-feature. The Rodriguez-Pazos contest will be on Solo Boxeo Tecate aired on UniMas. Welterweight Ronald Cruz will be trying to get back on the winning track when he takes on Rodolfo Armenta of Sinaloa, Mexico on the same card.

Mr. Olympia Combative Sports Presents USA Boxing Championships

From September 26-29th, 2013 at the Las Vegas Convention Center- North Hall the Mr. Olympia Combative Sports Expo will be held. There will be beginner to elite competitions and the elite will demonstrate their unique skills during the two days of action packed Combative Sports competition and entertainment throughout the Mr. Olympia. Zou Shiming: Fists of Gold II is July 27th

Tickets for Fists of Gold II at the Venetian Macao are on sale now. The card will feature two time Olympic gold medalist Zou Shiming in a flyweight match up against Mexico’s Jesus Ortega. Two world championship fights will also beon the card, as WBO/WBA Flyweight Champion Juan Estrada faces Milan Melindo and IBF Featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich takes on Mauricio Munoz.

Abdusalamov Offers 80/20 to Haye, Fury, and/or Mitchell

WBC #4 rated heavyweight contender Magomed “Mago” Abdusalamov (18-0) has offered an easy deal to the #5,6, and 7 contenders in his division.

“I’ll take an 80/20 purse split and I will take the 20% to fight either David Haye, Tyson Fury or Seth Mitchell,” says the Russian powerhouse. “In fact, if I lose, I will give them my 20% and I will walk away happy knowing I don’t deserve my ranking in the WBC.”

Golovkin-Macklin Undercard Announced

The explosive June 29th HBO Boxing After Dark triple header, headlined by WBA/IBO Champion Gennady Golovkin (26-0) defending against Matthew Macklin (29-4) will also showcase a loaded undercard at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

The undercard bouts are as follows: Thomas Oosthuizen (21-0-1) vs. Brandon Gonzales (17-0), Willie Nelson (20-1-1) vs. Luciano Leonel Cuello (32-2), Danny O’Connor (20-1) vs. Hector Munoz (21-10-1), Luis “KO King” Rosa Jr. vs. Jose Angel Beranza (36-26-2), Dusty Harrison (15-0) vs. Ben Ankrah (17-15), and Tony Harrison (13-0) vs. TBA.

David Price: One Day I’ll Be Pleased Thompson Beat Me

David Price believes one day he will be grateful that Tony Thompson beat him. Price said, “There will be heavyweights who saw me get beat and thought ‘Thank God’ because they wouldn’t have to fight me in the next one or two fights. A year down the line when I have won two or three fights I will be able to say I’m glad that happened then. I can’t say that now because I am yet to avenge the defeat, but I do believe if I’d carried on the way I was going it was a formality I would lose. You get complacent and it is a lesson learnt. Once this fight is won I am right back in the mix and no one can deny that. It is about winning. I don’t care how I get it because I can move one.”

Joan Guzman Healthy & Seeking Redemption

Joan Guzman (33-1-1) will be seeking redemption Friday night against Panamanian boxer Vicente “El Loco” Mosquera (32-2-1) for the interim WBA Junior Welterweight title. The bout will be the main event on Boxeo Telemundo. Guzman suffered the only loss of his career in November against Kjabib Allakhverdiev for the vacant WBA Light Welterweight belt after suffering a serious leg injury.

“I’m 100 percent recovered from my injury,” Guzman said from his Miami training camp. “I’m looking forward to showing the boxing world that I’m still a force to be reckoned with.”

Golden Boy Promotions Signs Sadam “World Kid” Ali

Golden Boy Promotions has signed Brooklyn’s unbeaten 2008 U.S. Olympian Sadam “World Kid” Ali (16-0). Ali is a two time New York Golden Gloves Champion and represented the United States in the 2008 Olympics.

“This is the biggest moment of my professional boxing career, but not the last big moment,” said Ali. “Golden Boy Promotions is the top promoter in the game today and I waited for this day for a long time. Now the next step is fighting the best and wining a world title.”

Mayweather vs. Alvarez Tickets on Sale

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Canelo Alvarez tickets will go on sale on June 25th at 1:00 p.m. ET. Tickets will be priced at $2,000, $1,500, $1,000, $600, and $350 with a total ticket limit of 12 per person, a limit of 10 per person at the $2,000, $1,500, $1,000, $600, and $350 price levels and a limit of two per person at the $350 price level. Tickets will be available for purchase at www.ticketmaster.com and www.mgmgrand.com

Revel Casino to Host Boxing in Atlantic City

David Weinberg of the Press of Atlantic City has reported that the Revel Casino will step in the ring and host boxing cards, starting on August 17th. That card will feature IBF Middleweight Champion Daniel Geale (29-1) defending his belt against Darren Barker (25-1). It will also feature Jonatan Romero (23-0) against Hidenori Otake (19-1-2). The card will be broadcast on HBO’s Boxing After Dark Series.

Ishe Smith to Defend Title Against Carlos Molina

Ishe Smith is set to defend his IBF Junior Middleweight title against Carlos Molina on July 19th at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas live on Showtime. Also in action in separate bouts will be unbeaten rising stars Mickey Bey Jr. and Badou Jack.

“This is the homecoming I’ve been waiting for my entire career and there is no way that Carlos Molina is leaving Las Vegas with my championship belt.” Said Smith. “He’s a tough fighter and a guy no one wants to fight, but that’s why I have no problem fighting him in my first title defense. I’m here to fight the best and show that I’m a true champion.”
