Floyd Mayweather Requests to Have Glove Size Changed, NSAC Denies It
Floyd Mayweather recently went on social media to announce he’s willing to face Conor McGregor inside the ring using 8-ounce gloves so that his opponent will be more comfortable in the ring.
This bout was originally scheduled to take place with the boxers using 10-ounce gloves with a ban on horsehair gloves, and Mayweather appeared to try to appease MMA fans with an agreement to use the smaller gloves.
However, NSAC executive director denied Mayweather’s request. He told ESPN, “These regulations are in place for the health and safety of the athletes, which is of the utmost importance to the commission…” He went on further to state, “Our regulations already outline the appropriate glove size according to the contracted weight of a fight.”

USADA to Drug Test Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor Robustly
MMAfighting.com recently spoke to a spokesperson with USADA and they indicated that both Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will be tested regularly and robustly leading up to their match.
“Mr. McGregor is subject to both the UFC Anti-Doping Policy (because he’s still an active UFC athlete) and the anti-doping program agreed to for the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match,” the spokesperson told MMA Fighting via e-mail.
The “latest screening methods and scientific techniques” will be used, USADA promises, including a biological passport that tracks levels over time and flags samples if there are irregularities. All drug-test samples will be tested for substances like EPO, HGH and peptide hormones, and be subject to carbon-isotope ratio (CIR) screening.
“The program is consistent with other professional boxing programs USADA has conducted over the years where the athletes agree to robust testing,” the USADA spokesperson said. “It primarily focuses on out-of-competition testing, all samples are analyzed at WADA accredited labs and the rules are consistent with the WADA Code and UFC Anti-Doping Policy. And like all our anti-doping programs, we start by educating the athletes and their representatives to ensure they’re properly informed of their rights and responsibilities.”
Bob Bennett Says There Will be no Prejudice or Bias in the Officials for Mayweather/McGregor
Many MMA fans are concerned that the officials involved with the Mayweather vs. McGregor boxing match will be biased towards boxer Floyd Mayweather.
However, Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Bob Bennett told MMA Junkie:
“There’s no prejudice, there’s no bias. They agreed to box, and they’ll fight like any other boxing match. As long as you follow the rules, then your chances are predicated on your actions in the ring.”
“We’re in the middle. We’re here strictly to regulate the event. That’s what we do for every fight. Nobody has an edge. There’s no favoritism here. They’re two phenomenal athletes. It should be a very, very interesting event, and we’ll see what happens in the ring.”
“I don’t see why this fight would not be approvable, and at this point in time, I’m not going to tell you why it is approvable,” he said. “I may articulate that information at the next commission meeting. But in my opinion, I see no reason why it’s not approvable.”
Floyd Mayweather’s EX Blasts McGregor: Domestic Violence is No Joke
Floyd Mayweather’s ex is furious at Conor McGregor over a trolling stunt that mocked her domestic violence incident with Floyd…saying he’s shamelessly profiting from her pain.
Josie Harris, who Floyd was convicted of attacking during a 2010 domestic violence incident at the boxer’s Vegas home for which Floyd spent two months behind bars for the attack.
McGregor trolled Floyd last week by wearing an NBA jersey of C.J. Watson, the man Floyd accused Josie of secretly texting in 2010, which led to the violent altercation.
“[The stunt] demonstrates not only an insensitivity toward the emotional wellbeing and privacy of the victim of Mayweather’s dom. violence, but also a general disregard for the physical and emotional trauma and long-lasting psychological impacts suffered by victims of dom. abuse,” Josie’s attorney, Dan Friedlander, tells TMZ Sports.
“On behalf of Josie Harris, her and Mayweather’s three children, and all victims of domestic violence, we ask that Conor McGregor refrain from capitalizing off of the trauma suffered by her and other victims of domestic abuse.”
