How About Manny Pacquiao vs. Rocky Balboa?

Everybody expects Manny Pacquiao to box Shane Mosley, Juan Manuel Marquez or Andre Berto. But all of those fights are stale ideas. Mosley is near the end of his illustrious career but he has no chance. Marquez – he is 37 but has no chance at 147 and why should Bob Arum do Golden Boy any favors when Richard Schaefer is protecting Floyd Mayweather from his Pacquiao punishment? Berto – why should Arum do Al Haymon any favors, let alone two huge favors, like gifting a huge payday and global exposure of the overrated Berto on the world boxing stage?

No. I think it’s time for a change, time to think outside of the box. Pacquiao is on top of the world now and Richard Schaefer and Al Haymon don’t deserve any favors whatsoever from Manny Pacquiao or Bob Arum as those two rascals are the two chief protectors of Mayweather and were instrumental in the false drug accusations campaign which has considerably tarnished the public image of Manny Pacquiao in America and around the world.

I say, Screw Schaefer and Haymon. Let them play with each other and make a Berto vs. Marquez fight and see if anyone cares.

Until Floyd Mayweather comes out of hiding, Manny Pacquiao should ignore Schaefer and Haymon and not give them a dime of his time or services. Manny Pacquiao is the man.

I think it’s a perfect time for Manny Pacquiao to take a page out of the Muhammad Ali playbook: give a longshot contender his chance of a lifetime. It will be a spectacle like Ali vs. Chuck Wepner or Apollo Creed vs. Rocky Balboa. The living legend against the little-known underdog battler, hoping to make his boxing dreams come true.

And Manny Pacquiao certainly deserves an easier fight, after consecutive challenges from the very dangerous and strong Joshua Clottey, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito – three extremely formidable former champions who Al Haymon would never ever let Floyd Mayweather fight in a million years, not that Chicken Floyd is stupid enough to choose to fight them himself.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Rocky Balboa. Looking at the Boxrec.com rankings I found a name who might fit the bill – Daniele Petrucci from Rome, Italy. Petrucci has been a pro fighter since 2004, stands 5-6 1/2, is righthanded and sports a record of 27-0 (9 KO’s). He is ranked #12 by Boxrec.com.

Manny Pacquiao vs. Daniele Petrucci, 12 rounds for the WBO Welterweight and WBC Super Welterweight titles.

No, it’s not as appetizing as Pacquiao vs. Mayweather but what can anybody do when Mouseweather won’t come out of hiding from his mousehole? He’ll eventually come out.

In the meantime, let’s see Manny Pacquiao take on his Rocky Balboa challenge. It’s a better idea than Berto, Mosley or Marquez, who will still be around if their services are ever needed in the future.

Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum are the ones who call all the shots now. And it’s perfect timing to re-produce the old Rocky Balboa prizefight formula promotion.

All roads lead to Manny Pacquiao.
