It might be Andre Dirrell’s time to shine. The unbeaten 25-year-old from Flint, Michigan (18-0, 13 KO’s) is a serious threat to win Showtime’s Super Six WORLD BOXING CLASSIC tournament. A 2004 Olympic bronze medalist, the switch-hitting but naturally left-handed is expected to take on WBC Super Middleweight champ Carl “The Cobra” Froch as his first assignment in the innovative event.
Dirrell commented on the top three stars of the tournament:
Dirrell on Carl Froch: “I don’t see him as faster than me. I don’t see him as quicker than me. I don’t see him as stronger than me. I think I’m gonna dominate the fight.”
Dirrell on Arthur Abraham: “He has so great of a defense. He’s just a warrior and he has great defense on top of knowing how to fight.”
Dirrell on Mikkel Kessler: “With the experience he has and the fighters he’s fought, he’s learned a lot. You gotta respect him. It would be a very strategic fight.”
