Heavyweight veteran James “Lights Out” Toney has issued an apology to ESPN boxing scribe Dan Rafael via his unofficial videographer Elie Seckbach.
Toney recently issued an obscenity-riddled video in which he threatened to come to the ESPN offices to beat down the boxing scribe because of a column Rafael wrote criticizing his proposed fight with top contender Tomasz Adamek. Toney also made numerous derogatory references to the writer’s weight.
Not long after the video began making news around the web, the fight with Adamek was cancelled by Main Events boxing promotions.
Rafael fired back at Toney last week in his online chat session, calling the fighter “angry, brain damaged and broke.”
Toney now says he regrets making the “ignorant” remarks about Rafael.
