Joey Tiberi, Jr. Keeps Boxing Alive in Delaware at Hockessin PAL

For over 2 years there was not any boxing in the state of Delaware since November of 2014 especially when Dover Downs Casino stopping putting on boxing events. In February former world champion Roy Jones., Jr. packed them in with fan’s figuring it would be the possible only chance they would ever get to see him again. In June Joey Tiberi, Jr. and Todd Mulvena are co-promoting for Night Night Promotions and kept the “Tiberi’ name alive. This Saturday at the PAL Center in Hockessin, Delaware he returns with a ten bout show keeping boxing alive in the state of Delaware.

A press conference was held Thursday night by Marc Abrams the PR man for the show. Matchmaker Nick Tiberi was also present.

Tiberi, 15-2 (8), fights out of Newark, DE, and will be facing Kevin “The Scarecrow” Womack, Jr., 7-14-4 (8), for the USBU lightweight title over 8 rounds. Womack is much better than his record shows.

In the co-feature Lamont Singletary, 8-2 (6), also out of Newark, DE, takes on Hafiz Montgomery, 4-1 (2), of Toms River, NJ, for the USBU cruiserweight title over 8 rounds. Super bantamweight Ariel Lopez, 7-0 (5), of Pueblo, MEX, meets Angel Carvajal, 2-7 (0), of Chicago in an all Latino bout over 6 rounds.

On the undercard will be DE boxers like Maurice Horne (Middletown), Weusi Johnson (Wilmington), female boxer Shamelle Baldwin (Wilmington), Brandon Mullins, (Newark), Michael Crain, (Smyrna) all in 4 round bouts. Sonny Duversome is coming in from Orlando, FL, to fight Dominican Dino Peralta out of Brooklyn, NY.

Mullins has been sparring with Kyrone Davis and David Murray. Murray has also been working with Singletary and Crain. Dougie Pettiford is training Johnson. There will be a $10 discount to all military, police and fireman. A percentage will go to Attack Addiction.
