Klitschko-Adamek Set For New Stadium in Wroclaw, Poland

By Johnny Walker

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2) of Ukraine has finalized the venue for his September 10 title bout with top Polish challenger, former cruiserweight king Tomasz Adamek (44-1).

The two heavyweights will face off in a new, 42,000-seat stadium in Wroclaw, Poland, that will serve as one of the host sites for the Euro 2012 soccer tournament. The Adamek-Klitschko battle will be one of the inaugural events in the shiny new stadium. A press conference will take place at the venue next Tuesday to officially announce the bout.

Klitschko-Adamek will serve as a bookend to the July 2 heavyweight battle in Hamburg, Germany, between Vitali’s brother, The Ring-recognized world heavyweight champion Wladimir, and WBA champion David Haye of the United Kingdom. Both fights have already generated tremendous interest in Europe, and represent a big resurgence for the oft-criticized heavyweight division in 2011.

“Tomasz is accustomed to winning and this will be his trump card in the fight against Klitschko,” Adamek’s manager Ziggy Rozalski told Ringpolska.pl. “We believe that everything in the September fight will be on our side.”
