Macho Camacho Remains In Critical Condition

Following the vicious shooting in Puerto Rico last night, former boxing champion Hector “Macho” Camacho remains in critical condition at San Pablo Hospital in Bayamon, though at the time doctors say “the prognosis is not good.”

Camacho suffered several bullet wounds to the face and neck during a drive-by shooting that took place outside of San Juan.

This morning it was reported that Camacho went into cardiac arrest. The doctors were able to get his heart started again with medicine and are maintaining his blood pressure and pulse stable, and are awaiting to see if there is a positive change.

Friend and former manager of Camacho, Ismael Leandry told The Associated Press Wednesday that doctors were waiting for Camacho’s mother to decide whether he should be taken off of life support. She was expected to arrive Wednesday morning from the U.S. mainland.

Camacho was struck in the jaw but exited his head and lodged in his right shoulder and fractured two vertebrae,

The driver of the vehicle, Adrian Alberto Mojica Moreno, was killed during the attack, an as of now no arrests have been made.

Boxing fans around the world have come together to join forces to lend their thoughts and prayers to the Camacho family via various social media platforms.

Macho’s son, Hector Camacho Jr., addressed his fans via Facebook with the folllwing,” Thanks for your prayers and love. Things are tough right now but what’s keeping me in good spirit is God and the things my father has done in the mast that keeps me smiling. If anybody could get through this, it is him…after all he is the Macho man. God Bless.”
