Macho Camacho Has Passed Away

It is a sad day in the boxing world. It was reported that boxing legend and former champion Hector “Macho” Camacho will be taken off life support today. The decision was made by his family after doctors declared that he was brain dead.

Camacho was the victim of a vicious shooting Tuesday night in Puerto Rico, and fought for his life the past few days, while remaining in critical condition.

A rep close to Camacho also reported that the family is currently in the process of making funeral arrangements, and have yet to decide if they will be holding the services in Puerto Rico or New York.

On a day of giving thanks, it is a solemn moment for both the Camacho family and the boxing world, but today we can reflect on all the champion contributed to the sport in and out of the ring.

He fought solely due to his love of the game; it wasn’t about getting rich, or for endorsement deals, or for anything other than simply going to battle and being the best in the world at his craft.

Hector “Macho” Camacho paved the way for countless up and coming boxers, and will be truly missed.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the Camacho family.
