Mike Tyson knows how it feels to have his public image take a beating. The reformed trouble-making former champ spoke some compassionate words for the actor Mel Gibson, who is currently taking a pounding from the media for his alleged physical assaults and threats against his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.
Tyson told the New York Post that he would have had no problem working with Gibson, unlike other cast members, in the “Hangover 2” movie which Tyson will film in Thailand in November. “I’m not going to ever in my life point my finger at anyone. I don’t live in a glass house. None of us do,” said Tyson. “I work with anybody, as long as they’re respectful.”
“We all have that guy – a Mel Gibson – in us. We just don’t want people to be exposed to it. Maybe he needs to get help. We all need help and need someone to talk to. I’m not against him but I’m not for him,” said Tyson who has survived more embarrassing and outrageous controversies than perhaps any high profile public figure in American history.
Tyson’s philosophical comments about Gibson appeared on Emily Smith’s Page Six on the October 28 edition of The New York Post.
