Mikkel Kessler Blasts Allan Green With One-Punch KO

By Johnny Walker

Danish boxing star and former super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler made a successful debut as a light-heavyweight today, coming back from an early knockdown to stop American Allan Green and win the WBA Silver light heavyweight title in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Kessler (45-2, 34 KOs) was surprised in the first round as Green (31-4-0, 21 KOs) landed a hard right to his chin, wobbling the Dane, who then went to the mat as Green followed up with a flurry of punches.

Kessler slowly pulled himself together in round two, shaking off the cobwebs and appearing to hurt Green as the round came to a close. After back and forth action in round three, Kessler hurt Green again, and as round four began, Kessler landed a monster, knockout of the year type left hook square on Green’s jaw, sending the American to the floor in a grotesque heap.

There was no need for a count, as Green was out cold. Mikkel Kessler was declared the winner at O:17 of round four.
