Rodriguez – Hlatswayo to Air on Broadway Boxing Aug 15th

(August 10, 2009) The IBF Welterweight title bout between Delvin Rodriguez and Issac Hlatshwayo turned into one of the most compelling fights of the year. Now, boxing fans will be able to take in all the action when the fight, promoted by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, airs Saturday, August 15 at 8pm as a part of DiBella Entertainment’s Broadway Boxing series on SportsNet New York (SNY).

On August 1, Rodriguez and Hlatshwayo took center stage at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut in a rematch of their 2008 draw. If the first battle set expectations of a close, hard fought war, then the rematch more than lived up to its billing.

“It’s an honor to be broadcasting an event like Rodriguez vs. Hlatshwayo,” said Lou DiBella. “An inspiring world title fight like this demands an audience bigger than just those in the arena that night.”

Rodriguez-Hlatshwayo does more than showcase a quality title bout to fight fans hungry for action. It also represents a change in direction, and quality, for the Broadway Boxing franchise. In the coming months, DiBella Entertainment has plans to turn its signature series into a superior telecast with increased distribution, production value, and most importantly, quality of fights.

The transformation of Broadway Boxing will be on display during this world title broadcast August 15.

“This will be in the first in a long line of world class boxing on Broadway Boxing,” said DiBella. “Fans should come to expect a first rate telecast with the very best the sport has to offer, from can’t miss prospects to world champions.”

The Broadway Boxing telecast will kick off this Saturday, August 15 at 8pm on SNY. The undercard will feature a trio of unbeaten prospects who also saw action on August 1. 2008 US Olympian Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (5-0, 4 KOs) will be seen facing off with Chad Greenleaf (11-12-1, 5 KOs) in a super welterweight contest, Raymond Serrano (10-0, 6 KOs) will take on Jesse Davis (11-13, 8 KOs) in a welterweight contest, and Yathomas Riley (6-0, 4 KOs) will square off with Tiwon Taylor (26-15-1, 19 KOs) at light heavyweight.
