Samuel Peter Targets Tomasz Adamek!

Former WBC Heavyweight champion Samuel Peter would like to restore his lost credibility and value at the expense of Tomasz Adamek. Peter’s representative Ivaylo Gotzev told Polish scribe Przemek Garzarczyk that Peter is available and eager to fill the currently open slot as Adamek’s next opponent for a fight which is slated for mid-April of 2011 in Katowice, Poland.

Peter, who at age 30 is four years younger than Adamek,  aspires to rebuild himself again into a world title challenger after losing by knockout last September in Germany to WBO/IBF/RING Champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Compared to Adamek’s last two opponents – Michael Grant and Vinny Maddalone – Peter would be a much more dangerous threat to deal with. Despite losing to Klitschko by stoppage, the well-conditioned Peter looked impressively quick and sharp throughout the fight however he just did not have the arsenal to be able to deal with the dominant Ukrainian powerhouse who is currently in a form as effective as any all-time great heavyweight in history.

Presently training in Las Vegas with Jeff Mayweather, Peter has a record of 38-4 (27 KO’s).

Adamek is in line to become the WBO mandatory challenger to Wladimir Klitschko in “June or July” according to Adamek promoter Kathy Duva.

So with a lucrative world title shot virtually guaranteed for Adamek, it’s hard to imagine Team Adamek agreeing to face the stern challenge of a still very ambitious and relatively young Peter.

But then again, Adamek is the sort of warrior who would fight King Kong and Godzilla if the price was right, so it would be far from a shock if the very interesting duel between Adamek vs. Peter is signed and scheduled for April 2011.
