Austin Trout, WBA Light Middleweight Champion from Las Cruces, New Mexico, will defend his title on Dec 1st against Miguel Cotto.
While many may know Trout as a young, hungry professional boxer, we’d like share with you the lighter side of who is.
I caught up with Austin Trout and his family on Labor Day in Phoenix, Arizona. After nearly 2 hours, we found that he is a Christian man, a loving son, a devoted finance, and a super proud father. During his short stay with the in-laws, he managed to visit the Phoenix Children’s Hospital and spend time with sick children. They took pictures with his belt and he gave them words of encouragement.
Trout’s charitable heart is admirable. He has shaved his head bald to help raise money to KNOCKOUT childhood cancer; participated in the March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon to help prevent birth defects; participated in a “Dunking Booth” for “One Small Voice,” which raises money to educate and help find a cure for diseases that cause blindness in children; worked for Habitat for Humanity; has been a guest at the “Child Crisis Center” in NM which helps prevent issues involving domestic violence, drugs, and sexual abuse in childhood; and has played Santa Claus multiple times and gave out bikes to children whose families cannot afford to buy one.
