Wladimir Klitschko Wants To Fight In Next Olympics, Then Retire

by Johnny Walker

World heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine says he intends to fight on another four years professionally, and then hopes to end his career by winning another gold medal in the Olympics.

For his dream to have a chance at becoming a reality, Klitschko–who currently owns the WBA, IBF and WBO belts–would first need the International Olympic Committee to clear the way by allowing professional boxers to take part, in the way that professional tennis players currently do. Such a move is said to be under consideration for 2016, when Klitschko will be 40 years of age.

Wladimir Klitschko won a gold medal in boxing for Ukraine in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
