Anthony Crolla Back In The Swing

ANTHONY CROLLA will continue his climb up world lightweight rankings next month.

British champion Crolla will challenge for the vacant WBA intercontinental crown on Hatton Promotions bill at Wigan’s Robin Arena on Saturday June 18.

The popular Mancunian will box an overseas opponent who will be named later this week.

Crolla who has won 20 of his 22 contests became British champion in February with a ninth round stoppage of John Watson when he stepped up a weight division at two weeks’ notice.

Hatton Promotions President Ricky Hatton said: “Anthony has shown that Hatton Promotio are willing to put our fighters in proper tests.

“It was a huge gamble especially as he moved up a division to fight Watson, but it paid off and I am delighted for Anthony.

“Anthony had no hesitation in taking the fight at short notice and in the next 12 months I fully expect him to compete in the highest level.

“He has won his last seven fights and became one of the most improved fighters in Britain.”

Crolla’s second title tilt is the chief support to Martin Murray’s clash against Trowbridge youngster Nick Blackwell for the vacant British middleweight title.

Murray’s WBA inter-continental and Commonwealth belts will also be up for grabs in the triple title clash.

The bill will be televised live on Sky Sports and among the galaxy of Hatton Promotions prospects on the undercard including Olympic star Joe Murray.

Tickets for this big night of title action are available £35, £55 (Ringside) and £75 VIP Ringside, www.brandhatton.com /0844 847 2500/0161 775 7500
