David Price To Prove He Will Be World Champ After 20 Fights

PRICE TO PROVE HE’LL BE WORLD CHAMP AFTER 20 FIGHTS

DAVID PRICE is out to show why he predicted he’ll be world heavyweight champion after20 fights.

The Olympic bronze medallist bids for his 10th straight professional win in his hometown at Liverpool Olympia on Wednesday night (27/4) when he faces good American Raphael Butler (35-9)

Price, 27, caused a storm recently, claiming that he’ll be fighting for a global crown after 20 fights.

He added: “You can be fast-tracked quicker than in previous eras and Butler shows I want to step up a gear.

“I think I can go all the way and I want to fight for a world title by the time I have had 20 fights. That is a realistic target.

“Solis only had 17 fights when he fought Vitali Klitschko, Chisora was going to fight Wladimir Klitschko with just 14 fights and David Haye became WBA champion after 24 fights.

“When the Klitschkos and Haye retire it is going to open up the heavyweight scene. Although there might be the quality of the Klitschkos there is going to be a lot more competition.”

Price’s first American test is the chief support to the double title rematch between British featherweight champion John Simpson (22-7) and Liverpool’s Commonwealth king Stephen Smith (11-0).

The rest of the undercard is stacked with local talent including Liam Vaughan (1-0), John Quigley (1-0), Kevin Satchell (4-0), Ryan Farrag (2-0), and Steve Harkin (5-1-1).
