Maloney Warns Booth: Beat Quigg or Quit

JASON BOOTH has been told by his own promoter that he will be in the last chance saloon when he meets Scott Quigg next month.

The Nottingham throwback defends his British super-bantamweight title against the unbeaten youngster in the Premier Suite at Bolton’s Reebok Arena on Saturday 22nd October.

Booth, 33, comes into the contest against the WBA ranked number three having been knocked out in ten rounds by European champion Kiko Martinez in April.

Booth (36-7) has boxed professionally since June 1996 and will competing in his 22nd major title when he faces Quigg (22-0) who is almost 11 years his junior.

Frank Maloney warned: “I have had some many great nights with Jason and he is a pleasure to promote.

“I have told him that if he loses this one it will be very hard to stay in title contention and it might be the end, but he didn’t need me to tell him that.

“He will be the underdog because Quigg has been unstoppable so far, but Jason has delivered so often when he has suffered a loss.

“Jason has never suffered consecutive defeats and showed there was plenty left after losing his world title fight against Steve Molitor, by bouncing back and beating Jamie Arthur.”

In the chief support Blackpool’s Brian Rose (17-1-1) will make the second defence of his English light-middleweight crown against Londoner Erick Ochieng (7-1)

If Rose wins he will be lined up to face British champion Price Arron later this year or in early 2012.
